ADIN and NDIN Analysis

ADIN and NDIN analyses measure nitrogen fractions that are bound to fibre and are important indicators of protein availability in feed.
Acid Detergent Insoluble Nitrogen (ADIN) is the portion of nitrogen bound within the acid detergent fibre fraction. It is typically associated with heat-damaged proteins, lignin-bound nitrogen, and other indigestible protein forms.

Neutral Detergent Insoluble Nitrogen (NDIN) represents nitrogen associated with the neutral detergent fibre fraction. It may include both slowly digestible and indigestible protein components.

Vitamin K3 is widely used in animal feed because of its stability and effectiveness compared to natural forms.
These measurements help determine how much of the total protein content is available for digestion.
High ADIN values often indicate heat damage or poor processing conditions, resulting in reduced nutritional value. NDIN provides additional insight into the protein that is bound to the fibre and may not be fully accessible.

ADIN and NDIN are used in feed evaluation to assess protein quality, detect processing damage, and improve formulation accuracy. They are particularly important in heat-treated feeds and by-products.
